For the very first time, the Wellington-Wairarapa-Horowhenua region has a unified Wellington Regional Economic Development Plan developed by a combination of local and central Government, iwi and businesses.
The just-launched plan aims to guide the long-term direction of our economy and help the region to prioritise, attract funding and deliver high impact economic initiatives over the next 10 years. This will help create some of the 100,000 new decent jobs needed in our region over the next 30 years because of the expected increase in population, and improve quality of life of life by supporting our region to be more productive, resilient, inclusive and sustainable with thriving Māori and Pasifika communities.
